The dilemma of technology superceding humanity is proposed in Huxley's Brave New World.  Huxley, like Bradbury, foresaw a future in which people become dehumanized by technology.

One area in which great advancements have been made with technology is the medical field.  There are now only a few hospitals which are equipped for robotical surgery; the surgeons place their arms into robotic arms and perform surgery with the use of the robotics.  Certainly, many more advancements will be made.  Perhaps their will be bionic arms and legs as were portrayed in old TV shows such as The Bionic Woman. Another advancement that is sure to go further in the medical field is the isolating of genes that carry certain traits such as the recent discovery of the gene that cause migraine headaches.

For the disabled, there have been technological advancements.  Blind people have opportunities increased for them with such advancements of the braille writer that can be carried.  This braille writer will "read" back what the student has recorded, as well.  So, students can take notes and have them recalled whenever they wish. And, surely, more advancements will be made.

A unique and amazing period of time we have and will continue to witness for the coming years. During this era, we are not only witnessing a generation that even though is aging wants to live longer and better lives, but also a generation of growing youths that want to revolutionize all parts of society. With this extraordinary mixture of people, the supply and demand of various products has grown exponentially. As Steve Cochrane, an economist, tells the Forbes Magazine, “The baby boomers are fairly well off, and will be able to afford a fair amount of health care. And they’re going to spend on it” (Clark). Cochrane explains that the aging population is a benefit to all youths who are looking for jobs. Cochrane tells us that this generation is one-of-a-kind because it is the first that wants to enjoy its “twilight” days and expand those days. In an interview with Jack Langley, a senior citizen war veteran in Edison, New Jersey, who is about to enter retirement, Mr. Langley said, “Over the past fifty years, I have seen so much new gadgets that everyone is using. My granddaughter showed me her Ipad a few days ago and I was amazed. So much you can do on that little device” (Langley).
